SAFETY PROFILE:

Poison by ingestion. Moderately toxic by skin contact. Questionable carcinogen with experimental neoplastigenic, tumorigenic, and teratogenic data. Experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. A highly toxic chlorinated phenoxy acid herbicide that is rapidly excreted after ingestion. Readily absorbed by inhalation and ingestion routes, slowly by skin contact. Signs of intoxication include weakness, lethargy, anorexia, diarrhea, ventricular fibrillation and/or cardiac arrest, and death. The teratogenicity is due in part to 2,3,7,8-TCDD, which is present as a contaminant (ARENAA 17,123,72). When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of Cl.
